Prerequisites

PREREQUISITES
ISEA's JAR ATP program is delivered by Lund University School of Aviation (L.U.S.A) and is therefore competitive. To apply, you must meet all prerequisites and attach certified documents to the application.

RequirementsExplanation

Age

18 or over at commencement of the course.

Education

Senior High School, with passes in Mathematics, Physics and English.
LanguageInternational Civil Aviation Organisation English proficiency test:
  • Native English: Level 6 (expert)
  • Non-native: Level 4 (operational)

Criminal Record Check

Arrange a police criminal record check in your home country and provide ISEA with the original copy.

Student Visa

Eligible to study in Australia and Sweden. You should have all documents ready to apply for your student visa prior to the four-day induction at L.U.S.A - you cannot apply for your visa until you have received your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) from ISEA after induction.
Aptitude TestingIf selected, you will be invited to attend a four-day induction at L.U.S.A, Sweden, for an interview and aptitude and medical testing. Aptitude tests include:

  • Perception and scanning
  • Spatial orientation capacity
  • Working memory function
  • Logical reasoning
  • Simultaneous capacity
  • Situational awareness
  • Stress tolerance
JAR Class 1 Medical CertificateObtain a JAR Class 1 Medical Certificate during induction at L.U.S.A. This includes:
  • Divulging special medical requirements
  • Being medically healthy in accordance with JAR-FCL 3 Class 1 medical certificate
  • Normal eye vision 1.0/1.0; corrective glasses allowed; refraction error within 5 dioptres allowed
  • Refraction error with an astigmatic component shall not exceed 2 dioptres
  • Difference in refraction error between the two eyes (anisometropia) shall not exceed 2 dioptres
  • Normal colour perception
  • Those using glasses require a medical certificate for an eye examination conducted in the past 12 months
  • Body mass index (BMI) 35 or less
  • Normally developed muscular system and good physical working capacity

Beginner/Ab initio

Pass the L.U.S.A aptitude and JAR FCL medical testing, and be interviewed by the L.U.S.A Recruitment and Selection Department.
Documentation of flying time (previous flying experience is not a prerequisite)Previous documented flying time may be credited towards the Swedish CAA requirement of the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), provided progress performance requirements for training are met. 50% of hours flown prior to the ISEA program may be credited towards the course flight time requirement up to 40 hours (45 hours with night flying qualification), of which up to 20 hours may be dual instruction.
