Course Structure

The JAA/JAR integrated course ensures you get the best balance of theory and practical training - this alternates on a weekly basis. Timing may vary depending on flying and weather conditions.

The course includes a total of 200 flight hours with an additional 15 hours in a FNPT II Simulator. The hours are split between a single and multi engine as follows:

You will fly:

Dual Control - You and the instructor have control
Pilot in Control - You have complete control. The instructor is on the ground and in radio contact
Student Pilot in Command - You have complete control. The instructor is in the aircraft for safety purposes

Induction: 4 Days
As part of the selection process, you will attend induction at Lund University School of Aviation, Sweden, where you will undergo aptitude and medical testingN/A
Phase 1: 10 Weeks
  • Basic Private Pilot Licence (PPL) knowledge
  • Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory
  • Pre-solo flight training

NO EXAMS
(ICAO English test conducted during break between Phase 1 & 2)
Dual: 17.3 hours
Pilot in Command: 0.4 hours

Phase 2: 20 Weeks
  • ATPL theory
  • Student pilot in command
  • Basic instrument
  • Visual Flight Rules (VFR) up to PPL General Flying Progress Test

EXAMS: Air Law, Meteorology, General Navigation
Dual: 11.8 hours
Pilot in Command: 17.6 hours
Student Pilot in Command: 0.3 hours
Phase 3: 23 Weeks
  • ATPL theory
  • Solo pilot in command
  • Night Visual Flight Rules (N-VFR)
  • Low-level flying
  • Cross-country navigation
  • Single-engine Instrument Flight Rules (SEIFR)

EXAMS: Aircraft General Knowledge: Airframes & Systems, Aircraft General Knowledge: Power Plant, Flight Performance Planning: Mass & Balance, Human Performance & Limitations, Operational Procedures, Communications (IFR), Flight Performance & Planning: Performance
Dual: 45.4 hours
Pilot in Command: 32 hours
Student Pilot in Command: 5.2 hours
Phase 4: 20 Weeks*
  • ATPL theory
  • Multi-engine Class Rating
  • Multi-engine Instrument Flight Rules (MEIFR)
  • Air exercises up to CPL and Instrument Rating(IR) skill tests (CPL + IR progress check)

EXAMS: Flight Performance & Planning: Flight Planning & Monitoring, Principles of Flight, Aircraft General Knowledge: Electrics & Electronics, Radio Navigation
Dual: 11.5 hours
Pilot in Command: N/A
Student Pilot in Command: 53.5 hours
Phase 5: 6 Weeks*
Final training and testing at L.U.S.A in Sweden:
  • Instruction and testing in multi-crew cooperation (MCC) in a Flight Navigation Procedure Trainer II (FNPT II) simulator (15 hours)
  • PA31 Navajo procedure training
  • PA31 Navajo flight training
